The discussion explored the historical backdrop of Ranabaali, which draws inspiration from the devastating Madras Famine of 1876–78 and the hardships experienced by people under British colonial rule.

Vijay Deverakonda plays a Rayalaseema warrior, while Rashmika Mandanna portrays Jayamma, his wife. Rather than presenting a straightforward historical account, director Rahul Sankrityan has described the film as alternate history, combining historical inspiration with fictional storytelling to imagine how events might have unfolded differently.

Annamalai and J. Sai Deepak brought perspectives on history, society and colonial-era experiences to the conversation, making the interview more than a conventional film-promotion event. Vijay reportedly praised Annamalai as a “real Singam,” while the broader discussion highlighted the film’s ambition to encourage audiences to reflect on India's past. The filmmakers have emphasised the importance of exploring regional stories and cultural traditions that may not receive extensive attention in mainstream historical narratives.
